Fast because we went down to the metal. Key4MB is not a plugin and not an app sitting on top: it is built deep into the phone’s operating system, so the model works with the phone rather than around it.

Light by design: a small language model built for the task used 15 to 50 times less energy than a large general one for the same job (UCL and UNESCO, 2025), and the phone is a machine you already own.
